It's officially the fourth week of the One Room Challenge hosted by Calling It Home. I'm afraid to say this, but I'm terrified that it's just not going to happen. As in, I'm not going to be able to get this room finished. Seriously! I had to come up with a catchy title for this post, It's All About That Paint, because seriously, that's the only thing that this post is about. I don't have anything else to show you today. So, prepare to be blown away by how adorable our room looks today and how GREAT (or not) the paint looks.
Actually, we did do one other thing. I'll get to that in a bit. Here's were we were at the beginning of the weekend.
What's not shown are the millions (ok, hundreds) of nail holes. I'm a crazy, non-measuring type person when it comes to hanging pictures. Luke and I used to get in arguments over the picture hanging process, so I took it over a few years ago. Anything that goes on the wall (that is not a curtain) I hang. It's so much better that way. The method to my madness is: Oh, just try it here. Nope, it needs to go up a bit. Take out the nail and try it again.
I don't worry about the nail holes. You can't see them unless you are right on the wall looking for them. Since we were painting though, it was time to fill the holes. I grabbed some spackle and went to town.
My preferred method is just to put the spackle on my fingertip and rub it in. No need to dirty a putty knife. =)
On a side note, look at the monstrous hands! They are huge! Actually, I do have pretty large hands but not that big.
Once the spackle dried, it was time to get my paint on.
Purdy was nice enough to send me a box of paint goodies for this project.
When you paint, it's important to actually have brushes and rollers that work well. A huge issue in the past that we've had is just trying to make do with what we had. Well, this time around, we definitely didn't have to make do. The stiff brush and rollers were amazing. Head to your local hardware store to pick-up a few of your own.
Once we got everything together, we went at it.
Luke is pretty much always the edger. I don't have the patience for it. Even if I try to do a good job, I hit the ceiling or the trim. It's just frustrating.
I'll stick to the no-brainer - rolling.
Excuse the grainy pictures, we've had some dreary weather lately and it's been hard to get accurate pictures of the color.
Surprise, surprise: we went with white. I used to hate white, but ever since we put it in our kitchen, I've been craving it.
Oh and did you notice what else we had accomplished? We pulled the carpet up, all the staples and tack strips. The installers are here as we speak but they haven't made it up to the master bedroom yet.
What do you think? Do you think I'm playing it safe with the bedroom?
If you missed the previous weeks, make sure to check them out: Week 1, Week 2, and Week 3.
Now, head back over to Calling It Home to check out all the amazing link participants and designers.
*This is NOT a sponsored post. Special thanks to Purdy for supplying the amazing painting supplies.

we are the opposite- i am the cutting in person! i hate rolling!!! you can do it!!!!!!
Ashley Mayes
=) To be completely honest, I don't like either. lol
Jen @ RamblingRenovators
I never thought I loved white either until I got a white bedroom. It's a great choice for a bedroom and really feels like a calm sanctuary. We painted our ORC dining room this week too and I'm with you - rolling > cutting in. Good luck getting your room done!
Ashley Mayes
Yay, I'm glad to hear that you love it as well. Thanks! I'm going to need it.

Do you feel like you're moving backwards with this one? LOL - from finished room to white walls, plywood floor and no trim. This room is going to be all.about.the.details! Can't wait to see it. I'm super envious you are willing to shake up a finished room and make it match your style. I have so much trouble wanting to do a room again, I tend to settle with it because I don't want to mess with it again (aka LAZY)
Ashley Mayes
For sure, but we weren't completely happy with it and it had evolved so much yet was never finished. We are upgrading all the trim in the house, but this room is going to be done first... larger trim makes such a huge impact. Seriously Char, you need to start a blog. I'd love to read it!
Carol @ CAD INTERIORS
I love white walls. It's the perfect neutral slate for whatever color or pattern I feel like injecting at any particular time (I'm constantly switching things up!). I share your nail hole filler method, which is why my pointy finger is about to fall off! 🙂
Ashley Mayes
Omg, that's so funny! That's the only way to do it! Thanks so much!
Casey
I'm not allowed to do the edging in my house, I ALWAYS get the ceiling lol - rolling is where it's at!
Ashley Mayes
Me too! I just kinda laugh and shrug it off.... then the hubby takes over (makes me kinda want to hit the ceiling earlier).
Samantha
Oh man, can't wait to the new paint with the new floors! It's going to be dreamy!
Ashley Mayes
I hope so, I really do! Thanks Samantha.

We are seriously separated at birth! I hang pictures the exact same way as you and also use my finger for spackle. Just had to spackle two holes I made for the picture that I hung too high in my dining room ;). I tried painting my bedroom white but chose the wrong white and the room looked and felt cold. You need to fulfill my white bedroom dreams for me!
Ashley Mayes
Seriously, I definitely think so. White is hard for sure. Julia from Cuckoo 4 Design helped me out last year with the white - it saved me countless sample pots for sure.

This post cracked me up so much. I also put nail holes wherever when trying to hang a picture. I do usually *try* to measure, but I'm not very accurate, so it doesn't do a lot of good. If possible I at least try to err on the side of too low the first time so I'll cover up the hole with the picture when I move it up. I generally make Justin edge as well. I don't have the patience or the fine motor skills. This is why I am horrible at all ball sports (basketball, baseball, soccer, pool, bowling, you name it). I don't think you're playing it too safe--I think it's going to look awesome. Nothing wrong with white walls--it's timeless and the versatility is a plus. I'm also going to hedge my bets that it all comes together in time, and I can't wait to see it!
Ashley Mayes
I do get the measuring tape out, but rarely do I actually mark and use it. Fail! ha. I actually used to be really good at sports but it didn't help with painting skills.
