Kitchen Cleaning Essentials: Are you struggling with stainless steel appliances and fingerprints or how to keep your dishwasher looking polished? If so, today is your day because I'm sharing some great cleaning hacks to save you time.
You all know me and you know that my kitchen is my happy place. It's not because I love to cook, because I don't. It's because I love to hang in the kitchen with my family, talking while the husband is cooking, chatting about this or that, and catching up with each other's interests. It's the heart of the home - in our house for sure - but one thing that definitely helps keep it that way is having it be a well-kept, clean space for us that's inspiring to be in. There's more to having a nice space than just keeping it clean but, today, we are going to talk about my kitchen cleaning essentials. Also, ways to work into your schedule the maintenance part of keeping up with your favorite rooms of your home.
It's actually quite interesting, because on Tuesday, Suzannah and I released a podcast episode all about Interior Home Maintenance. Maintenance and cleaning aren't the same thing and yet, we tend to kinda lump them together. When you can use products that can do both, that's definitely a huge win.
Weiman and I have partnered on this post today. I had been using some of their products in my kitchen so, when they came to me to partner, I jumped at the chance to learn more about their brand and mission. Click to read my privacy and disclosure policy.
Kitchen Cleaning Essentials
In my mind, there's three things that go into this:
- Cleaning
- Conditioning or polishing
- Protecting
Let me be real honest here, guys. I love a clean house, yet working and being a mom and doing all the things, just doesn't allow me to stay on top of cleaning the house 24/7. However, a clean house is something that definitely affects my mood so we prioritize it and we do that by having a house cleaner come each week.
We cook a lot though and we host, so we are cleaning in between house cleaning visits as well as trying to stay on top of all the maintenance. So, whether you have a house cleaner or you are the house cleaner, I think you'll be well pleased with the products that I'm about to share.
Actually, this is a funny little story. Last year, I shared on Instagram Stories about the amazing Stainless Steel Wipes that I'd been using and adored. I got so many questions about those and then finally just added a link to them on my Amazon page. Anyways, a year passed and here we are, I'm talking about those same wipes that I still love and use. I call that fate, what about you?
Ok, so back to the three essentials: cleaning, conditioning or polishing and protecting. I do all three of these things throughout my kitchen on the stainless steel appliances, wood floors, granite countertops and leather upholstery.
Let's chat about the stainless steel appliances first. We have a stainless steel fridge, oven, sink, range hood and dishwasher.
Stainless Steel Cleaner and Polish | Stainless Steel Wipes
A common question that you might ask, if you don't have stainless steel appliances, is:
Are Stainless Steel Appliances Easy to Keep Clean?
My answer to that would be, yes, WITH the right products. Like I mentioned up above, I've been using Stainless Steel Wipes in my kitchen for a few years now. Not only do they clean my appliances but they also help keep fingerprints away. We don't notice much in regards to fingertip oil at all.
Cleaning and Maintaining Granite Countertops
Now, let's chat about the countertops. I'm always honest here guys so let me be real, Luke and I didn't start protecting our granite countertops until about two years ago. About two years ago, we noticed some streaking on the countertops and then realized that we'd never sealed them or really paid attention to the type of cleaner we'd been using on our granite. This is a BIG no-no. Countertops are a BIG investment, so you should definitely be actively cleaning your granite countertops with a granite product that is meant for it and sealing it (1x per year) to maintain them.
Cleaning Leather Bar Stools or Leather Upholstery
I'm sure I'm not the only one who has leather bar stools, but if you don't have them, think about cleaning your leather boots, pillows or stuffed leather recliner.
I have leather bar stools in my kitchen, as well as a leather banquette cushion and two leather dining room chair cushions. Leather is great, it's durable and holds up to kids. Some of my leather (maybe depending on quality or how much sun it gets), tends to look dry over time and my shoes, for sure, tend to get dirty. So, a really good leather wipe that cleans, conditions and protects the leather will help with this. After each winter season, I wipe down my boots and they last me for years! It only makes sense to prolong the use of our leather bar stools and other leather upholstery the same way.
Leather Wipes
So, basically, you'll notice a trend here... my kitchen cleaning essentials include products that not only clean but also help protect for future smudges, spills, scrapes, etc. We are busy, you are busy, so it only makes sense to use products that do multiple things.

Excellent guide, Ashley! Great point about sealing the countertops. I think they should be sealed at least once every year but it really depends on the quality of the countertops. With regards to the cleaning solutions, I usually prefer organic and home-made materials as far as possible. Go green! 🙂
