Looking for ideas for landscaping around a shed? From beautiful boxwoods to a more understated shed decor look, use these ten ideas to inspire you!
When we first moved in, we were lucky in fact that at sometime (maybe 10 years earlier), a previous home owner had put effort into our shed decor. Someone had put up an arbor on the walls (which was way past its prime when we started to think about the landscaping) and had installed a flower bed.
After some cleanup and planting of monkey grass, which we know grows well in our area, we now have landscaping around our shed that looks decently nice.
So, if you are looking for a very simple idea, I would recommend having some defined beds around your shed with a low-maintenance grass. We've felt like this has been a great fit for us.
I did want to give you other great ideas though, so I rounded up some to share!
Ideas for landscaping around a shed
Defined garden path and decor on the shed
Gravel pathways are just so pretty. I love the sitting area by the shed, too! Add some flower pots next to a flower planting station and you are set.
White rock and a few shrubs
A big theme that I've seen with shed decorations is that just being intentional about having some makes a world of difference. I like the white rock with dark siding on this one.
Decor for sheds include planter pots
If you have an actual door on your building, I love the idea of setting up you space like a front door with plater pots and a door mat.
Meadow or rustic grass
There's so many great benefits to keeping a meadow or grass areas native. I LOVE this example and although, I think it lends itself to only certain types of spaces, I'd love to see more people planting native grasses in the exterior landscaping.
Traditional boxwoods and window boxes
If a more manicured landscaping look is your thing, I think this look is pretty darn special. Add window boxes to your shed decorations must-have list and plant boxwoods around the perimeter. If you use fake plants in the boxwood, then this look is low maintenance.
If you are a seasonal gardener, add planter pots around and change them up as the seasons change. This shed decor is giving major "she shed" vibes.
Flagstone path
This cedar shed looks so sharp next to the flagstone path. I love that it feel intentionally made for the space.
Shed decorations and much more
Mulched areas by the gravel paths make this whole setup feel like an enchanted garden.
Decking and rocks
I like that this landscaping around the shed feels more like the yard is landscaped and the shed just fits in. I like the pavers in front of the shed doors with greenery and mulch next to it as well.
In my opinion, when you are landscaping around a shed, as long as you are doing it intentionally, making the shed fit in instead of stick out, you are probably doing it right. Take these ideas and incorporate them to help make your exterior landscaping better.
