Looking for an at home Halloween tradition? We started pumpkin bowling (a.k.a. a pumpkin smash contest) a few years ago and it's such a fun pumpkin activity, for both kids and adults!
At Home Halloween Tradition: Pumpkin Bowling
Years ago, our old neighbors, told us that they had a home Halloween tradition that they did every year and suggested that we start doing it as well. They started this tradition when they had little kids and continued the pumpkin contest idea as their kids became adults.
Basically, they did pumpkin bowling from the top of their driveway down to the bottom. On our street, this means the pumpkin would then cross the street and end in a ditch. What makes it such a fun tradition is that you never know when your pumpkin is going to smash into pieces by hitting a tree or a rock; or maybe it will make it all the way to the bottom in one piece.
As our neighbors were getting ready to move, they said that their adult children were going to be sad to leave behind this pumpkin game (and that it was a fun Halloween tradition that they always looked forward to it).
I believe they moved to a house that doesn't boast a hilly driveway so I'm sure their pumpkin bowling activity is just a memory now for them, but I'm happy to report that WE are carrying on the tradition.
This will now be our fourth year of doing this fun Halloween activity!
Pumpkin Games (How We Play)
The goal of the pumpkin bowling at our house is to see who can roll the pumpkin the furthest. So, each person who wants to play will need a pumpkin.
You take turns rolling your pumpkin down the hill to see who can add the most speed without hitting a tree. You'll quickly find why this is such a great Halloween activity for everyone involved!
Kids and adults alike think it's fun to get their pumpkin the furthest but also, it's just as fun when their pumpkin smashes to pieces. You never know when it's going to happen.

Halloween Activities for Adults
The last few years, we've invited my family over for this funny pumpkin activity! The more the merrier with this. Last year, my mom brought all her pumpkins so we had more to roll and play with.
It's one of those activities that is super chill. Set up a few lawn chairs and grab a few drinks and make this an annual tradition at your house.
If you have kiddos, this would be a great Halloween Sleepover idea! But seriously, it's a fun tradition for adults and one that I foresee us doing for years to come.
p.s. Looking for Halloween decor ideas? I really love my take on Halloween Decorating in the Kitchen. I'm looking to recreate some of those ideas this year. I might even get crafty and try to add a painted pumpkin art piece in a frame.
