This snowman gift tower came together with minimal supplies. If you are looking for decoy gift wrapping ideas, make this Snowman present tower!
A few years ago, we started doing a total of four gifts for Christmas. The gifts fell into the categories: something you want, something you need, something to wear and something to read.
Logically, I know that four gifts is plenty and that a ton of families don't or can't do that. I've been conditioned through my childhood Christmases (a mountain of Christmas presents) and through marketing in the US to believe that four gifts isn't that much. Sifting through values and meaning on traditions can be so difficult.
Anyways, for me, to make the four presents seem a bit more special, I decided to not display the gifts under the Christmas tree. Instead, I decided to make a Christmas present tower, A.K.A. a Snowman Present Tower.
It honestly wasn't too hard to wrap gifts up to make the present tower. I tend to save shipping boxes to reuse anyways. If you are like me and have multiple sizes of cardboard boxes on hand, this project will be pretty simple for you.
I think the hardest part of building the present tower would be finding boxes that would work for the components of the snowman stacking gift boxes if you didn't have saved boxes to choose from.
Either way, you can do this cute gift wrapping idea. Let me show you how!
Cute Decoy Gift Wrapping Idea
Snowman Present Tower Supplies Needed
- 5 Cardboard Boxes
- White Wrapping Paper or White Art Paper by the Roll
- Striped wrapping paper (or whatever color you want to make the snowman's hat out of)
- Tape
- Scissors
- Utility Knife
- Colored Construction Paper
- Scarf
- Marker
- Tree Sticks
You can make this Christmas present tower any height you want. You'll just need to look at the cardboard box sizes that you have and make the present tower work off of those dimensions.
If you are struggling with proportions because you have less boxes to work with, you could consider making a Reindeer Stacking Gift Box instead!
I personally love the idea of wrapping little items (underwear was wrapped in the largest box) in big boxes for more of the "fun factor." The sizes of the boxes don't have to correspond to the sizes of what's inside the box.
How to Make Snowman Christmas Gift Boxes
- Collect your boxes and place gifts inside boxes.
- Wrap the three main boxes of the snowman's body in white.
- Wrap the two boxes that will make the snowman's hat in the wrapping paper of your choice .
- Use a marker to draw the eyes, mouth, eyebrows and buttons on the present tower.
- Roll orange construction paper to make a nose. Attach with tape.
- Tie scarf around the head and body boxes of the present tower.
- Use a utility knife to cut into the sides of the snowman's body to make a hole so that twig arms can sit in.
- Enjoy your Snowman Present tower!
I like to be creative when it comes to holidays and celebrations but I don't like to do anything that takes too much time. You aren't going to find me crafting for hours but I do really enjoy the happiness that small DIY projects can bring.
A few years ago, I used scrap fabric and photo ornaments on presents and that was such a cute way to gift little ornaments to Grandparents. Check out that post on how to trim your Christmas packages if you want more inspiration.
You usually won't find the presents under our tree to be matching because I tend to use whatever leftover gift bags and paper that I have on hand; but, occasionally, I'll bring out a creative idea like this Christmas present tower.
p.s. Last year, we set up a Christmas scavenger hunt for Greyson and it was a HUGE hit. He loved it and Luke and I loved watching him work through the clues. There's a bunch of free printable Christmas scavenger hunt options online, just search for them and make them work for your age kiddos. We had a blast doing it.
