13 Entry table decor ideas to help you elevate the space entryway that you have!
Entry tables are a great way to welcome guests into your home and set the tone for your interior decor. However, it can be challenging to find the right balance between function and style when it comes to the decor for the foyer table. I know I've struggled with both the scale of my foyer table as well as how to decorate that table.
I wanted to round up and explore some entryway console table decor ideas that will help you (and me!) transform our foyers (or entryways) into stylish and functional spaces.
Fundamentals of decorating a foyer table include choosing the right furniture, lighting, and accessories that complement the overall style of your home. A well-designed entry table should have function and design mixed (it's the intentional styling aspect that's the goal!).
Providing ample storage (if you need it) for everyday essentials like keys, wallets, and sunglasses, while also serving as a showcase for decorative items like vases, picture frames, and candles is where the magic happens.
As you are scrolling through these ideas, take a look at the decor that is often repeated on each table. Oftentimes, you will see: lighting, a vase with florals, and books. Watch how each of those are arranged on these tables and then think about how to be intentional about your table with your decor.
Fundamentals of Entry Table Decor
Let's look at some fundamentals of entry table decor, including choosing the right table, understanding scale and proportion, and the different types of tables to consider.
Choosing the right table
The first step in decorating an entry table is choosing the right table. The table should be proportional to the size of the entryway and the height of the ceiling. A table that is too large or too small can throw off the balance of the space.
Other considerations are whether you want storage; a table, a chest or dresser might be great. Another is whether you have the space for a round table or console table. Within all three of those ideas, sizing is also a consideration and one that I've struggled with.
Let's look at some examples of each of these types of tables and key in on the foyer table decor, too!
Round tables
Round tables are a great option for entryways with staircases that support them or even when the staircase is pushed back and you have some space to fill in the middle of the foyer.
From what I've seen, when you have a space for a round table, this type of space doesn't lead itself to using the table for a key drop. These types of spaces feel slightly more formal which tends to make me believe that the spaces aren't connected to where you'd naturally come and go in a home. All of that being said, I think that sometimes entry table decorating ideas can just be about adding decor, not necessarily adding function.
Console tables
Console tables are a popular choice for entryways. They come in a variety of sizes and styles, making them versatile for any decor style. When choosing a console table, consider the scale of the table in relation to the size of the entryway. A console table that is too small can look out of place, while a console table that is too large can make the space feel cramped.
Chests
Chests are another option for entry tables. They offer ample storage space and can be used to display decor items on top. When choosing a chest, consider the style and material of the piece. A chest made of wood can add warmth to the space, while a metal chest can add an industrial touch.
Understanding scale and proportion
When decorating an entry table, it is important to keep scale and proportion in mind. The decor items should be proportional to the size of the table and the space. Oversized items can overpower the table or the space, but can also look really amazing.
This next example shows oversized art that looks great.
Opting for a mix of items in varying heights and sizes to create visual interest is a great way to go.
Creative Decor Ideas
If you want to make a statement with your entry table decor, consider these creative ideas to add a touch of personality and style to your space.
Seasonal themes
One way to keep your entry table decor fresh and exciting is to switch it up with each season. Incorporate seasonal elements such as pumpkins and autumn leaves for fall, pinecones and evergreen branches for winter, and fresh blooms for spring and summer. This will not only add a pop of color and texture to your space but also create a warm and inviting atmosphere for your guests.
Here's my entryway table decor that I did in November for Christmas. After Christmas, I take out the three trees and leave it as-is. The glass display case houses rocks and feathers that we've picked up here and there.
I love this simple entry table decorated with, what I envision to be, spring flowers.
Functional yet stylish
Your entry table can serve as a functional space as well as a decorative one. Consider adding a tray or basket to hold keys, sunglasses, and other small items. A decorative bowl or dish (like the gorgeous amber colored dish below!) can also be used to keep loose change and other small items organized.
Personal touches
Adding personal touches to your entry table decor can make your space feel more inviting and welcoming. Display family photos in decorative frames or showcase artwork and collectibles that reflect your personal style.
Lighting accents
Lighting can make a big impact on the look and feel of your entryway. Consider adding a table lamp or a pair of sconces to create a warm and inviting glow.
Tips to remember:
- Entry tables can be both functional and stylish.
- Choosing the right furniture, lighting, and accessories is essential for a well-designed entry table.
- Incorporating creative decor ideas like statement mirrors, artwork, and natural elements can help elevate your entryway.
