Guys, I’m so happy to say that our master bedroom is finished! It has taken us a few tries (from lampshades to duvet covers to curtains) to get things right, but it finally feels ‘right’ to us. Fair warning: I’m totally going to bombard you with pictures!
Come on in…
The footstool got a makeover with some fun fabric that I had in the basement. I finally figured out how to update the wicker hanging lamp in the corner. I brushed on bright white paint (lightly) and then used an upholstery needle and thread to cover the old edging. It was time-consuming, but totally worth it.
I still really love the DIY sunburst mirror over the bed.
Nothing is going to make that t.v. be less of an eyesore, but I enjoy the gallery wall behind it.
The floral painting was a $1.50 find at a garage sale last summer.
Greyson drew (with Luke’s help) the top piece of art for Christmas for me. I’m glad I had space to incorporate it.
I like how the diy bamboo blinds pair with the updated pot and tiled plant stand. I really think the fresh plants and the texture of the bamboo make that little area over by the window.
If you want more details on the nightstands’ styling, you can find that here.
There are so many DIY projects in the room. I love how they turned out and I love the fact that, with some of them, you wouldn’t even know they were DIY. I love the fact that we were able to mix mid-price pieces (West Elm bed frame, dresser, etc) with DIY pieces ($30 dollar headboard, bamboo shades, no sew pillow, tiled table top, sunburst mirror, etc) to achieve something cohesive.
Now, if I could only replicate that feeling throughout our whole house. I’m not going to think about that and instead, go lay on bed and read a book. Hope ya’ll have a great weekend!

Oh, this looks like the most perfect retreat from the world! I love the calming color scheme (and that whimsical hanging light in the corner–swoon!). This makes me want to lighten up the color palette in our room 🙂
Thank you, Amy! That corner hanging light was a $3 garage sale find! Thanks again!
It’s gorgeous! Lovely and relaxing. The hanging wicker lamp is one of my favorite pieces.
Thanks Alexis! That wicker lamp was super annoying (it was a brown/ugly garage sale find) to get right, but I love how it turned out.
How nice to have a finished master bedroom! I feel like I’ll never get to mine. Love you space. The color is so calming and again love those faux bamboo shades. Thanks for sharing at The Makers!
I’ve never had a finished bedroom before, but now I’m wondering why I waited so long! Thanks Corey!
This room is completely lovely! I really love the rug, and the plants are nice fresh touch. Very nicely done!
Thanks Abby! The rug we had originally bought for the formal dining room, but we hated it in there. Funny how it was totally perfect in the master bedroom. Thanks again!
This is beautiful! I’m in the process of redoing our Master; I love the calm feel you’ve invoked. Do you mind sharing your source for the rug? thanks 🙂
Thanks Cindy! We got the rug from RUGSUSA. I think I got it during a 70% off and it was about $200. We’ve been super happy with it.
This room came out perfect! I love the layering and the calm colors. Found you at the Makers!
Thanks Stephanie!
I love this! All my favorite colors and it looks so clean and crisp! Beautiful!
Thanks Nicole!
I have a sample can of Rainwashed as I am currently trying to decide what color to paint my master bath. I get married in two months and my fiance and I are working to make my house of six years “our” house! I love the rug and wall color!
Rainwashed is so beautiful, because it changes throughout the day. Have fun making the house both of yours…its definitely an adventure!
You did a GREAT job! I really like the wall color it’s so soothing, as well as the large piece of artwork.

It looks fabulous!! I’m in the middle of our master bedroom makeover right now… Especially love your light fixture! Gorgeous! Found you via Carrie’s Frugal Crafty home party 🙂 Thx for the inspiration!
Thanks Kendra! The light is from Ikea (as I’m sure you know) but it’s been great in there.
I love how this turned out! The little pops of yellow are just enough to bring some life into the room but not too much it becomes overwhelming. Thanks so much for linking this up to Frugal Crafty Home Blog Hop. This is going to be one of my features at our next party!
Thanks Carrie! I had originally started with yellow in our living room and it go overwhelming fast! I tempered that this time around. Can’t wait to be featured!

Thanks Tasha! Yes, RugsUsa has been great. I know some people have had ups and downs with them, but we are 2 for 2.

Thanks Amy! I know the pendant is a hit or miss for most people, but I love it. Thanks for coming by!
I absolutely ADORE your bedroom!! The color scheme is so calming and relaxing…definitely a space where I could plop down and read a good book! I’m in the process of redoing my bedroom as well and I feel completely inspired by your design. I actually just finished updating my current dressers not too long ago that kind of remind me of your nightstands (which I LOVE!). http://www.stripesandpolkadotsblog.com/2014/04/contact-paper-furniture-update.html
Anyway awesome job!
Thanks Sara! I love the fact that I want to read a good book in there now… before not so much.
Hi! Love love love your room! Do you remember the name of your rug? Where did you get your bedding? Thanks (:
Hi, Thanks! The rug is Rugs USA Satara Insignia Chevron Teal Rug and the bedding is a gray/white pinstripe from Ikea (but bought off of Amazon). Hope that helps!
Quite a womderful job decorating the MB! Love the way everything goes together perfectly. It feels calm but not dark, tranquil but not drab. But I can only imagine how much work it was. Bet you wanted to fall into that lovely bed and sleep for days!
Thanks Judy! It’s very tranquil and we are enjoying it.

Thanks Sara! My favorite thing about the room is that is feels calming!
I love the colorful dot artwork. Where did you find it? It would go perfect in my house too!
Thanks Dory! We got it off of One Kings Lane. It’s by an artist named Caroline Wright and you can frequently find it for sale on One Kings Lane or Joss and Main.
I’ve been searching for gray curtains JUST like yours…do you mind sharing where you got them?
I got them at Target but it’s been awhile.
This bedroom is lovely… so soothing. May I ask where you found the bed frame?
Thank you! It’s actually from West Elm.
